Ever work at a job where you enjoyed doing what you love?

When you are a singer/songwriter and you work at the best coffee café ever it happens. Recently, I had the pleasure of going to Sola Coffee Café in Raleigh, NC. http://www.solacoffee.com/ This is my go to place whether it is day or night. It’s all about the ambiance and the people who make it that way.

Being an employee there must have its perks. Having the opportunity to work for an amazing company is a win. It’s what you do. Then playing a gig at your job is a bonus.

Take a young musician named Colin Leonard. He attended college in Texas before moving to North Carolina. Now that is what you call a Creative with determination. http://www.colinleonardmusic.com/

Sola Coffee Café is a place that I discovered over the summer. Funny because it was about the time that I was starting to pursue my dream. That being continuing with my writing that I’ve been doing for so many years.

Things have a way of working out when you follow your passion. Which leads me to being at Sola Coffee Café on one of their many music nights. However, during this evening it was music with a message.

When you listen to a singer/songwriter that tells you how he was once a worship pastor you pay attention. Colin talked about how he was once told that he had a platform that he could use to share his message.

If you could share a message creatively would you take that leap?

Here’s a young man who did. He played a variety of music and put his own spin on some classics. Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash and Amazing Grace. One song stood out to me and that was Hollow Home Road. It was about marriage.

Do you have a favorite love song?

He dedicated it to everyone that was married and listening. “This is where I belong, you are still my song.” It was such a pretty song and I couldn’t help but think of my husband while he sang it. That put a bigger smile on my face.

It was so awesome to see a young guy following his dream. Writing his songs as he went on with his day and then singing about it after his shift on the same evening.

That right there my friend is what it takes to make your dream a reality. We can all talk about having a dream, but the ones that succeed are those that do the work. In this case, he was lucky enough to do it where he works.

Do you have that kind of drive when it comes to what you’re passionate about?

Sola Coffee Café has a wonderful staff and is owned by John and Jeanne Luther. I’m the type of person that loves to support a local business whenever I get the opportunity. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back.

It is inviting and always welcoming. Not to mention the awesome lattes and it has a blend of so many things to try. I must admit I have a weakness for the mini donuts in cinnamon & sugar and the espresso ones.

What I love about this place is that they too are continuing working on their dream of having their business. They are renovating and continuing to grow.

Are you growing in what you are pursuing?

It takes faith and a big dose of courage to do so. It’s never a guarantee, but it is possible. That’s why I enjoy going there. When I feel, my muse getting a hold of me to write my story, I can do that there.

During all the hustle and bustle and with conversations going on all around me. Or with a musician like Colin Leonard putting his very heart into his music. That is where my muse takes me sometimes.

Where do you go to get inspired?

Inspiration comes at any given time. You must be ready for it because when it shows up you should also. That’s the way dreams work.

I’m content with being a coffee lover that has a go to spot. Pretty cups of flavorful lattes made by people who care. A fun place to hang out with when I am with my dear friend Linda. Where we catch up on each other’s goals and aspirations.

Great food, wonderful music and I get to know people by name. That’s the kind of place people deserve to get to know.

Isn’t time that you found your happy place too?
