When you don’t take chances in life, you end up missing out. Have you ever noticed that people live as if tomorrow is promised? They don’t take into consideration that they may not see the next day. You only live once mentality works.
You must be willing to step out of the box. Sometimes you are not even aware that you are a prisoner. You have stayed content in a space that comforts you.
I have news for you. There is no potential to grow there. It is up to you to take the big leap.
There are things in the world that you are meant to do. By waiting, you delay that opportunity to live life. The last time that I checked YOLO (You Only Live Once) is a real thing. You get one life to choose what you will do.
Fear limits your potential
I have learned that when life seems scary, it is okay to be afraid. However, I look at it as a chance to sharpen my skills and talents. It is a challenge to me to see if I can do it.
Sometimes I shy away from it and, other times I jump right in. You can imagine which feels better. I may not know the outcome in advance, but it is smart to try.
If you have a limiting belief, then you won’t see growth, happiness, or learn something new. You miss out on an experience that you put off. What would it look like if you started to take steps towards that mindset?
Think of people that have done what you have wished to do. If they could do it why, can’t you? It all starts with a decision to act.
I am an advocate of pursuing the things that make you happy. Before you know it, the years have gone by, and you are still in the same spot. So why not do them anyway?
Not acting on it can make you feel stuck. You might be in a career that has been good to you. Let me ask you this: Are you in a job that brings out your true talents? The kind of job that helps you continue to learn your craft.
Do it now
When you are doing what you love, you learn all the time. That is the beauty of it. When you are in a career that only provides a safety net, then you are not engaged in YOLO. At least not to the potential that you deserve.
I hope that you will consider living your life to the fullest. You can live it fully across all areas of your life. It starts with committing to the decision to dive in and do it.
I am glad that at my age, I am embracing those YOLO moments. It might be trying something new in my career or personal life. Either way, it is for the better, and it enriches me.
Be curious about what that may look like for you. Write down three things that fall under the category of YOLO. Now put a date next to each of those things.
You are the navigator of your incredible story. So, go on, do those things. I can’t wait for you to check them off your list.
