It’s life-changing Meeting My muse in the country

I gaze at the deep pink crepe myrtle tree. It catches my attention with its vibrant color on an early morning. I could never get tired of this country view from the barn loft.

You see, this is the place for a writer like me where dreams are made of and come to life. I can be in my thoughts at any given time. I’m a writer meeting her muse in the country. It’s been life-changing to experience something so beautiful.

This means I get to write in my notebook with the hope that my words flow freely like a leaf floating down a beautiful creek.

Magical things happen here. It’s a place where characters are born out of thin air. They make their appearance gradually or quickly, at times. The kind of characters or ideas that are on the cusp of making their debut onto the page. This makes me happy.

My muse changes the routine

Being out in the country has a way of bringing out the best in a person. It embraces you with a warm hug. A place that calms your spirit where stress doesn’t have permission to coexist. You are allowed to create without thinking of anything else.

You get to step away from the day-to-day routines that steal your time. I like to think of it as my sanctuary and my happy place.

I sip my coffee ever so slowly, savoring it. There are no fancy espresso makers here; instead, I brew it with a simple Keurig, and I make it work. It wakes me up, the old-fashioned way.

I love it because it takes me back to the basics. There is nothing fancy that requires me to do anything else. It makes me smile.

Catching the sunrise in the early morning is worth it. It does something deeper within me.

Seeing the beautiful colors splash across the country sky is breathtaking. Time stands still here. I rely on my memory at times, but I make sure I capture this moment behind the lens.

Nature makes you happier

I am greeted by the beautiful brown horse with friendly eyes. She makes her way to me, remembering me from the day before. She is intuitive, like me. I am not supposed to pet her unsupervised. This reality tugs at my heart.

We lock eyes, and we both know it’s okay to simply greet each other, quietly. She turns around in acknowledgment, still happy as she makes her way across the green grass. Rules are rules, but we both remember the day before, when I did get to place my hand on her sweet face when it was allowed.

The sun continues to rise and shine brighter. I sip some more coffee and enjoy a coffee brand from long ago. It takes me back to a time when I shared this coffee with my ex-husband. Some things have a way of coming up when you are not expecting them.

I’ve learned to allow them to do so. All things that end sadly don’t have to be bad. It’s simply the kind of memory that I can be grateful for because now I know time is healing my heart.

The beauty of a pen has a way of making its way to your heart. Until next time…
