A writer weaves thoughts onto paper to craft something of substance. The kind of writing that tugs at a person’s heart or lets them dive into make-believe. Today I am sharing three ways being a writer benefits your inner spark.

Being a writer is different for anyone brave enough to write. I don’t believe that one wakes up with the title, but more so wakes up to the possibility of becoming one.

I remember writing poetry as a teen to express being in love or to soothe heartbreak. Both let me release what I felt inside. That is the beauty of writing what you feel and letting someone else feel it too.

Writing Benefits your inner spark

What do you do with a nudge that doesn’t stop?

First, you acknowledge that you want to write. Writing pulls at you until you give in. That is because your inner spark is begging to be fed. You can run away and say that you are not qualified to write. However, know that it isn’t true about you.

You will feel your creativity increase the more you put it into practice. That benefits your writing because your ideas begin to start flowing. Your inner spark starts growing.

You can’t help but write what is on your mind or on your heart. When I write I like to think of it as a movie in my head.

Your imagination plays a vital role when you begin to explore what you will write. Whether it is poetry, romance etc. it helps spark something within you.

When it comes to non-fiction, it depends on the topic. You can evoke emotion here, too. Just because you have never published something does not disqualify you. The minute that you put pen to paper or type on a keyboard, you become a writer.

So, if you are at odds with yourself, relax, you can do this. Forget what you have told yourself. Take a deep breath and release.

Be yourself

Next, start writing in your voice. There’s no need to compare yourself to someone else or their work. All you have to do is be yourself.

Write from the heart, learn what you must, and start writing what compels you. Do whatever it is that is waiting for you to begin. Overthinking isn’t needed; only a willingness to express yourself.

It is easy to procrastinate and put it off, but it will leave you feeling empty. You’ll find other things to do and then find yourself circling back.

Finally, continue practicing your craft so that your inner spark doesn’t dry up. Your creativity is waiting to be explored and unleashed. Give yourself the gift of writing for yourself first.

Becoming a writer is worth the time that it takes.

Let today be the day that you say yes to yourself. So, tell me what do you want to write about first?
