A Personal Trainer Helps to Get You on Track

Trying to get fit can seem like a daunting task. It may seem overwhelming at first. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way.  A personal trainer helps to get you on track.

I have been on my own fitness journey for several years. Going to the gym happened when I took up archery and needed the upper body strength. I was like anyone else and began at square one.

I started off by getting a trainer and tried to do my best with my diet. Dieting is hard and it is basically up to you to make it work. You can exercise all that you want, but if you are not eating right then it’s for nothing.

Start off with asking for help

You end up getting discouraged when you give up. It is my belief that if you are willing to ask for help you will get it. This past April I reached out on my social media to ask if anyone was willing to train me.

Little did I know that I would get a personal trainer like Sheri DiMaggio. On top of this, she was going to do it virtually since we live in different states. She had plenty of experience with fitness and because of that was able to get me on track.

First, I was asked about my goals, issues, if I worked out at home or at the gym. I shared that I did both. It all began with a food log.

This is something that I tried before, but with Sheri, it felt different. It was like a good friend asking me and that felt less intimidating to me.

Follow Your Trainers Recommendations

I have used different food log apps in the past. The Lose It app is great and was something that she suggested. It was free and very user-friendly. We figured out a good goal for my daily caloric intake.

Next, she sent me workout videos and I started doing them. Sometimes I would have to modify them due to an injury to my hand a year ago. However, I found that I could still manage most of the workouts.

Make Healthier Food Choices

Sheri has sent me recipes for better meal choices. I started to get new ideas for food this way. I want to add that I still enjoy meals out and indulge on some occasions.

Your fitness journey will be unique to you. I am applying what she has taught me. I have learned that it is part of my routine.

Sometimes I’m good at it and sometimes not so much. Yet, I have learned that this is a lifestyle change for sure.

What has been the hardest for me is eating more protein and fewer carbs. That is what I like about the Lose It app. It shows you where you are with your nutrients.

Stay the Course

I still incorporate the tools that I have after going through a medical procedure. Although this has caused me to recuperate, I don’t look at it as an obstacle.

It only means that I must listen to my body, heal and stay the course. I am happy to say I’ve gradually moved toward my former workouts.

If you are looking at making changes with your fitness do so. This might mean investing in your well-being with a personal trainer.

The way that I look at my fitness journey now is so different. Instead of stressing out over the scale I don’t. I choose to take it one day at a time.

I still want that toned stomach and stronger butt like anyone else. The good news is that I get to continue the process. I am not striving to be perfect.

Instead, I am content with simply trying to be better than what I was. Whether that is reflecting on where I was a few years ago or even last month.

So decide today where you want to be too. Your health is worth it.
