I have realized that life will give you hurdles. There are times when the things that break your spirit will make you stronger. Hard things make you resilient. There is power in that when you believe that this too shall pass. 2020 has had its share of huge surprises and shocks in my life.
However, I am learning that the way I react to any situation or circumstance is important. Many people may feel that when life gets hard, it means giving up. When, in fact, it is doing quite the opposite. You vent when needed, but you keep going. Nothing can steal your joy unless you permit it to do so.
Does this mean that you are not allowed to cry when anything unpleasant happens? No, it only means that if you must, you allow yourself to have a good cry. I call that a soul-cleansing session. It is therapeutic, and it allows you to see things with a fresh perspective afterward.
Find Tools To Help You Become Resilient
The holiday season can be a tough one when you are going through hard things. To make it easier to cope with surround yourself with your loved ones. People that are there to support you through the process. Also, seeing a therapist is beneficial, and you get an outsider’s perspective on your situation.
No one is exempt from challenging circumstances. However, everyone has an opportunity to get the care they need to cope with it.
I have found that writing in a journal is useful. It is also part of my morning routine. I have faithfully done this for a couple of months now. It is awesome. Working out helps shift my mindset, as well. That is something that my coaching certification taught me.
Taking a walk helps alleviate your stress, and I am fond of the Hallmark Channel, especially during the holiday season. It boosts my mood for sure. Who doesn’t love a good romantic movie? I say, do anything that makes you happy.
Your Happiness Is Worth It
I have found that to be happy, you must let go of the things that cripple your happiness. Whether that is a job that makes you unhappy, a relationship, or even a bad habit. Another tool in my arsenal is having faith. Like they say in James 2:14-26, “faith without works is dead.” There is so much truth in that statement.
I make it a point to read my bible app daily and a variety of bible plans too. Maybe you have faith, or perhaps you do not. That is up to you, and no judgment either way.
We are put on this earth to be a blessing to others, share our gifts with the world, and be loved unconditionally. Your mindset matters with whatever it is you are facing. It is up to you to do something about it.
You are only a victim if you choose to be. Wouldn’t you rather feel empowered instead? Think of the tools that can help you do that very thing. You deserve to make it through the hard things.
The hard things are temporary and never permanent. Allow yourself to experience the feelings, then go through the process and finally move on. That, my friends, is what being resilient will do for you. There is peace in your heart when you keep on going.
Are you ready to push through the hard things?
I am.
