The holiday season is the perfect time to experience what is happening in the Triangle. Experience the holidays at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, NC, with the Faithful Friends- The Holiday Tea.
Bryan Kelley was our server and explained what the Afternoon Tea would entail. I selected the Tea of Good Tidings that is a seasonal blend and the Vanilla and Almond tea. My son chose Acaí Green Tea. Let me start by saying that drinking tea without milk or sugar was a treat. We had the Classic Tea experience.
Classic Tea
I have been a fan of tea in the past but had not realized the difference with premium tea. I did choose to add milk and sugar to the Tea of Good Tidings to compare them. They were both excellent! We were served two different kinds of scones: pecan and cherry.

There was a choice of strawberry preserves, House-made lemon curd, honey, and Devonshire cream. Pastry Chef Stephanie Rosse shared the wonderful items with me with all three tiers.
Three Tiers

Tier 1- The Sandwich Plate: Cucumber on white bread with fresh basil mayonnaise, House-made Pimento Cheese on white bread with chives, Turkey on wheat bread with Boursin cheese and arugula and a Washington Duke Inn Deviled Egg.

Tier 2- The Savory Plate
Lemon Panna Cotta with fresh berries, Wedge of Gouda cheese, House-made Chicken Salad in a phyllo cup, Rosemary Financier and, Red Grapes.

Tier 3- The Sweet Plate
Lemon Bar, Passionfruit Tart, Chocolate Truffle, French Macaron, and a Chocolate Cranberry Torte.
It was great trying to figure out unfamiliar flavors. Thankfully the descriptions above solved the mystery of what I was not sure on (Passionfruit tart). I also took the liberty of finding out more about the background of Macaron versus Macaroon and more on the Rosemary Financier. Feel free to do the same.

If you are expecting not to be full after this Afternoon Tea think again. It was perfect! Being able to relax as Bryan suggested, was what made us savor each thing.
Beautiful Christmas Decorations
Did I mention that Christmas is my favorite holiday? After our tea, Bryan gave us a tour of some of their Christmas décor.

This holiday season is the perfect time to make your reservation for their Faithful Friends- The Holiday Tea that runs through January 5, 2019. If you are looking for something to do and still need that last-minute gift then I highly recommend taking your friend or loved one to this.
