No matter what season you find yourself in, you can be content. There is an art to being content in the present. Finding your joy is great for your well-being. There is beauty in appreciating where you are now. If you have ever found yourself in a season where you are not, there is still hope.
Being content does not always mean that everything is perfect. In fact, it can be during times when things are the opposite. Your patience in times that stretch you will make you more resilient. If you look closely enough, you will see glimmers of moments that brought you joy.
First, ask yourself, where can I find joy today? Put aside your worries or stresses for a minute. Dive deeper into the great things that happened today or this week.
Pay attention to your focus
What went right? Putting your focus and being grateful for the good is a game-changer. Too often, people don’t invest in reflecting on the beautiful things that brought them joy.
As a midlife woman, I treasure my time. It is one of my values and investing it in the right things makes me happy. I have come so far in my life that every minute counts.
Being with my family and friends brings me joy during the holidays.. I get to enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies, coffee cafes or read a great book. There is contentment in those things. Your life should reflect your values and what is aligned with them.
Make a List
My mother is a great role model who instilled those values in me. I treasure them every single day. If you find yourself feeling like you can’t find your joy, take time to assess your life. It all starts with you.
First, list the things that don’t bring you joy. What can you take away and replace with something that makes you happier? What worked in the past might not work in the present. Maybe it’s time to try something new.
Next, make a list of things that you are willing to try. Give them a whirl and reassess later. Ask yourself how it made you feel. Sometimes you must remind yourself that you deserve to find your joy.
Life will always demand a lot from you, but there is an opportunity to be happier.
Finally, be gentle with yourself if you must replace things that don’t give you joy. Life is a continuous journey that you get to navigate. Joy can be found in the right places when you allow yourself to find it.
I don’t know about you, but I look forward to finding joy every single day. I hope you find yours, too.
What do you think?
