Ever have one of those days when things didn’t make sense? You have a list of important things or opportunities, and then everything goes haywire. Yes, I had that kind of day. Yet, you can find peace in the chaos. So, what do you do with your emotions when things don’t go as planned?
First, you cry it out. I’m talking about the kind of cry that cleanses every crevice in your soul. The crevices that you didn’t even know existed. Ah, we all have them, and at one time or another, they reveal their existence. What will shedding some tears do for you?
It will allow you to release it, and then poof, it’s gone. You are no longer worried about what didn’t go right. I suppose that makes you feel human, and it should. You see, no one is exempt from hard things, but you choose how you react to them.
Learn to Let Go
Think of it this way: when you understand that it’s out of your control, it starts to make sense. I know I do my best to be certain things flow the way they should. However, I don’t always get it right.
Think about something that didn’t go right for you recently. Did you find it difficult to deal with, or did you relinquish control? It is more soothing to see how things improve once you let go.
Next, I asked why I had this kind of day. I felt sorry for myself and then decided I did have a choice. Either I could sit in my sadness, or I could elevate my mood. Going to a coffee café to write, and that brought me to this blog post.
You see, writing for me is what brings me joy. I enjoy inspiring others, but sometimes I must work harder on inspiring myself. That takes doing something physical, and whether it’s pen to paper or typing on my keyboard, it changes things.
Find ways to find Peace
Find a way to find something that changes your mood. Maybe you like to exercise, dance, play pickleball, or do something else. Do the thing, you will be glad you did.
I tried playing pickleball recently, and it was a lot of fun! My other activity is archery. It’s been a minute since I’ve practiced, but it is therapeutic. There is something about pulling back on that arrow and hitting that target that challenges my inner warrior. Releasing that arrow also takes my stress right along with it.
Finally, if you find yourself in the middle of chaos, remember it is temporary. It will pass.
Some things in life are meant to humble you. They are God’s reminder that you must put your focus on Him and not the world or that thing you want so much. It is your job to find that balance.
I am finding that things do happen for a reason. I may not understand why in the moment, but later I will have an epiphany. That understanding comes with being patient in the waiting. There is a lesson to learn if you are willing to wait on it.
Are you willing to wait too?
