The Pasta Making Class at Il Palio in Chapel Hill is a unique experience. The class offers a sure way to learn something new with the hands-on approach of a traditional method. It is a great way to get together with a good friend or loved one.

Annabel was awesome in the way that she described the wines being offered because of her experience. She brought a new understanding of the information about the wine and why they were classified in the way that they were (DOC). It was nice to get her suggestions for either a red or white wine to complement different dishes.

I felt that this topic alone would make a great class also. For someone like me, I would love the opportunity to explore this topic a little further with a wine tasting. Thank you, Annabel, for your expertise on the subject.

Fresh Ingredients Matter

Fresh ingredients
The smell was fragrant.

Chef Adam Rose talked about using fresh ingredients, and I can see why that would be important for a pasta-making class. We were taught how to measure the dry and wet ingredients by using a scale and measuring in grams.

The Pasta Making Class Process

We were taught how to make Orecchiette pasta. Kneading was a big part of that process. By poking your finger in the dough, you could measure the way it bounced back. Rolling out the dough and cutting it just right were key goals. This was an indicator that it was ready.

I participated along with other bloggers, and it was interesting to see how we each made our pasta. I would like to believe that we all brought something unique to the table. Being side by side with other people made the experience that much more enjoyable.

It was fun making our way to the kitchen. Here we were all able to capture them in action and seeing the process first hand. So this made the class even more fun.

Setting the table

Flowers add that special touch.

The Orecchiette Pasta tasted delicious, and the wine paired with it nicely. It was great to see how making pasta made us appreciate the dish even more. I would say that I didn’t overdo it because I knew I would have dessert later in the day.

The Pasta Making Class takes place within The Siena Hotel. You can book a class or add the class to your stay. Such a wonderful way to enhance your visit while in the area.

In the future, I can’t wait to see more of The Siena Hotel and try more of their delectable dishes at Il Palio. Thank you for a memorable experience.
