Find Golden Opportunities with Dress For Success

One of the things that women encounter throughout life is being unemployed. Find golden opportunities with Dress For Success. I had the pleasure of discovering Dress For Success as soon as I landed a new job. They provide awesome opportunities and resources for women looking for work and those who have found employment and need empowering outfits.

As a woman who has always donated my clothing to thrift stores, I noticed I didn’t have many outfits for my new job. I remembered my dear friend, Sophia Lujan, would donate to them. I looked them up and emailed one of their branches right away. Thank you to Megan for sharing upcoming opportunities and Pamela for giving me my Image Coaching appointment.

Dress For Success Offers Google Career Certificates

In the meantime, I looked at their website and noticed they offered Google Career Certificates to gain new skills. I registered for one that aligned with me as a writer and my social media needs. Why not gain certification in something new?

I arrived at Dress For Succes in Durham, NC, and was greeted by Joy. I had been looking forward to my Image Coaching session all week. Heather was a beautiful volunteer who helped me find trendy and classic outfits for my new job.

We had things in common and another volunteer there was great too who did radio and had great fashion taste.
The wonderful thing about the clothing selected is that they are versatile pieces. I can wear them to work and out of the office. As a woman in midlife, having this option is a win for me.

Heather gave me some advice on what would look good on me. She brought me clothes that were a fit for me. Some of the clothes I put in a no, maybe, or yes category. I felt like a new woman each time I tried on the clothing. It was so much fun!

I found it interesting to see how someone else thought I might dress. I have participated in getting styled before and writing about it but this time it felt different in the best way.

Job Seeking Takes Time

Previously, I had a wonderful job in education and thought it was time to gain more skills and utilize the ones I had. applied to multiple jobs and although interviews would go great sometimes, I was not chosen. In some instances, recruiters would ghost me. I am a person who believes in communicating, I struggled with how things had changed in the job application process.

Rejection isn’t a good feeling, but it is part of life. Thankfully as a writer, I was familiar with rejection and felt I could handle it. On top of that, I was a single divorced Latina woman. I used to be married to my high school sweetheart and then midlife came about and here I was in new and uncharted territory.

No one ever thinks that life can take an unexpected turn at any given moment. You hear it happening to those you love and friends but never think it will happen to you. It is important to remember that you are not a victim of circumstance, but an overcomer who is ready for the comeback.

Resources serve to Further Your Career Goals

Whatever your reason for looking for a job, know that resources are available. All it takes on your end is to take the first step toward a very hopeful future. You become what you believe you can be.

Finding employment was important to me. I knew I wasn’t a quitter. To be independent means one must go on a journey of self-discovery. As for myself, I know that I want to continue empowering women. The journey is not always easy but necessary if you want your vision to come to life.

Now is the time to add tools to your toolbelt. Think of tools that will enhance your job search and allow you to flourish with the gifts and talents that you have been blessed with. Dress For Success can help you do this. Go, find out what you can do too.

An organization like Dress for Success is a beacon of light when the path isn’t so clear. They give you hope for a brighter future, and it reminds me of a great bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the LORD,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I live by that daily and I believe you can too.
