Sometimes you find yourself at a crossroads. You will feel yourself meandering through life at different speeds. At times this is an opportunity to reassess where you stand in life. Finding ways to navigate the crossroads during midlife is important. If you have had a health scare, this might prompt you to reassess it sooner.

Are you happy? Do things spark joy in your very core?

Asking yourself these questions is necessary whenever you want a reset. Every day that you wake up is an opportunity. You decide what things you will engage in to give purpose or motivate you to experience a fulfilled state.

Did you know that you get to create a life that you love? It is so easy to forget what you can do. It does not have to be challenging, but getting in your way isn’t uncommon.

Think about a time when you talked yourself out of doing something. Do you remember what you were thinking? There are so many excuses that take place. When you step aside and let things happen without overthinking it, you experience something extraordinary.

Time to journal

I recommend using a notebook to journal your answers. When you do this, you get to go back and read it later. I have found journals that sometimes give me the spark necessary to pursue my goals.

There are days when looking back at the words I wrote reminds me of my purpose. On a deeper level, they remind me of my why. Eventually, the words you write can do the same for you too. Be open to learning more about yourself in the process.

Putting pen to paper is also therapeutic. If you feel stressed, then this is a great way to unwind. So, back to you, what are you willing to do today? Write down the first step that you will take to embark on your path to being happy and finding joy.

Are you looking to fulfill a dream that gives you purpose? Maybe you want to experience growth in an area of your life. This could include your current career, a relationship, a new hobby, a dream, or a past goal that was not achieved.

You owe it to yourself to explore the possibilities. What do you have to lose? You can lose time wondering what would happen if you didn’t.

The wonderful thing about reevaluating where you are now is that you are starting the process. Any time you write it down, you create that first step. It is an action that will take you to the next step—one step at a time.

Check-in with your feelings

Remember, you are not making this complicated. You are creating the opportunity to explore things that will bring you joy. Now imagine what your future self is doing. How does it make you feel?

I know that anytime I think about my future self, I can’t help but smile. I imagine living a life where there are no restrictions. This is due to stepping into what I deserve and working on living a life I love. There is beauty in that revelation.

Now think about what you are willing to do now. What are you ready to commit to doing to bring you joy? Above all, it all starts with you. Decide today that you will do what it takes to get there. You will most definitely find a new version of yourself that will thank you later.

Isn’t that worth going after? Absolutely yes!
