Midlife has a way of making you realize the time you have left in this world. Granted, we are not all guaranteed tomorrow, but living life to the fullest is the goal, right? Maybe it’s the fact that I long for something more. Remember that assessing the hours in your day is helpful.
What about you? Where do you currently see yourself now? Self-reflection is a powerful tool to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
That is always the motivator for me. I can go from feeling unworthy to feeling rejuvenated by doing this exercise. Start by writing in a notebook or a journal to help get you going. The power of the pen has such a way of becoming something life-changing.
Think back to when you were a child. Life was so carefree back then. What do you consider a full life? Is it wealth, relationships, career, faith, hobbies, or something different? Looking at how you spend your time will help you answer that immediately.
Pay attention to your actions
Do your actions fulfill the things that are important to you? I used to determine my living a full life if I was happy romantically. I placed a high value on that, which cost me later in my previous marriage.
Now I realize that although that is great, it isn’t always the answer to living life fully. The minute it is taken away from you, you feel empty. Looking at the hours in your day is essential to living more joyfully, in my case as a single woman.
Doing the things you love will enhance your well-being in many ways. You will spend quality time doing things that bring you joy. These things end up improving your life for the better. The times I have done fun things have elevated my mood and given me a more optimistic view of my future.
Binge-watching movies are fun, but they take up your time. You’ll still catch me watching a favorite series, but I slow it down instead of consuming it too quickly.
Ask yourself what your values are in this season. What would need to change for you to make strides in your life now? Small actions end up giving you more significant results in the long term. Creating a life that you love is worth pursuing.
Are people in your life draining your energy? If so, find a new circle to invest your time in and let go of pessimistic people. The right people will add value to your existence. You can be that person for someone else, too.
The people who help you will help elevate you to live a fuller life. Every single minute and hour of your day is worth assessing. Do an inventory today. You will create more space for the things that matter most.
What is one thing you can change to add more value to your day?
