This could have been a post about how devasting a divorce can be, but it is not. Instead, this is an inspirational post about how divorce will make you find yourself again, going after your best life, and, what will bring you joy.

So, pick yourself up from the floor and I invite you to keep reading. My job here is to give you hope. Couldn’t we all use a little hope anyway? Of course.

The world is saturated with all the self-help advice anyone could ever want, right? However, it is important to think of possibilities versus impossibilities. So often we are on a journey of self-discovery in different seasons of life, especially after a divorce.

Time For Some New Beliefs

When you are in the hard moments you begin to question what is meant for you. The only one that has the power to discover these things is you. What would it look like for you to believe something new?

The past tends to have this invisible hold on what you believe you cannot do. If you have gone through a separation or divorce this might feel heavy. However, it is your chance to step toward what is next. Start by changing the narrative of what you have told yourself. Remember you matter too.

What is it about women who think they must remain stuck or that they are not good enough? These are not thoughts that you must hang on to so toss them out. Tell yourself why you deserve to believe a new story about you.

Who do you believe you were created to become? I say become because the old you will keep you stuck. The enhanced version of you is on the sidelines waiting for her chance to play all in.

Look at being single as an opportunity to create new beliefs about yourself. I like to build myself up with faith first. After that, I look for other ways to boost my mood. It might be by listening to an inspirational podcast, writing, reading, listening to upbeat music, spending time with a good friend, hanging out with family, or working out.

It could be something similar for you, or you might have something different. Do whatever works best for you. We are all meant to discover what makes us feel good about ourselves. My friend can be a magical experience.

Find a community with other women who want the same thing. Before you know it you all will find things in common. It is great to share this with friends you respect. Often these women have gone through something themselves.

You will find wisdom with those that have gone before you. They know what it feels like to be where you are in your season.  Give yourself grace and know that you do not have to walk alone with this.

Dig Deeper To Find Yourself Again

So, today think of who you truly are and why you believe it. As for me, I choose amazing things about myself. I am beautiful, loyal, compassionate, creative, a Christian, funny, and strong. See where I am going with this?

Now you try it. Grab a notebook and write what you think about yourself.  Next, reflect on it for a bit. What kind of feelings come up for you?
Keep the main thing the focus of your discovery. Forget the things that have held you back. Also, this includes anyone who hinders your progress. You are meant to find a new way of life that holds anything that makes you strive toward happiness.

Relationships come and go. Sometimes they are beyond your understanding when someone you love makes a different choice. He may have been led astray but there is no need to give up hope on your future love story. No matter what your circumstances were before your divorce you can do this.

Instead of staying focused on the things that hold you back, focus on nurturing yourself. Where you are now is all that matters. It is from this space that you can breathe easier. Remember that you have what it takes to conquer the hard things.

Toss what hurt you in the nearest trash can. That is where it belongs. Now ask yourself, where you belong going forward. This is your life so make it the best experience ever!

For me, I reflect on a variety of verses in the bible. I remember that any wrong or hurtful thing I have encountered is nothing compared to God’s faithful promises. This keeps me looking ahead and grateful for who I am in the present.

So, you see, it is up to you where you go from here. Add new beliefs as part of your arsenal to create a wonderful life. That version of you cannot wait to see what you will do next.

Are you willing to give it a chance? I know I am.
