Getting In Tune With Your Calling

Ever take a minute to hear your own inner voice?

It’s similar to that one that you heard when you were a child. Sound familiar? You hear it from time to time if you pause long enough to listen. Your calling takes up residence inside of you.

It isn’t always easy to recognize either. That kid in you never leaves. You carry that inner child for life.

It is also the one that allowed you to imagine what you could be some day. That impossible dream that always seemed so far out of reach.

Do you remember yearning for it?

Now you’re older and have acquired more wisdom. Yet you are still on the edge of the pier with your toes dabbling in the water right? It is such a comfortable place to be in.

No worries here, nothing to be afraid of either. If you only put your toes in you don’t have to work hard. You get to continue to dream and imagine all of the “what if’s.”

Let’s not forget taking risks. Sitting on the edge of that beautiful pier overlooking the water is the safe zone. By staying here you partner up with procrastination.

So how do you get in tune with your calling?

You start off with immersing yourself in the water. Your toes give you a taste for what is to come. Ask yourself what you think you should be doing.

That dream that tugs at your heart. It creates the excitement of embarking on your journey in the first place. When you get to that place you want to put more of yourself in the water.

Fear starts to subside and instead curiosity fills you up. The deeper that you go in the water you will face fear again. It’s inevitable.

It’s all part of the journey of pursuing your calling. How is your calling giving you hints? Think of the things that come across your mind on a daily basis.

Do you have a day job or are you a stay at home parent?

During these times of doing other work is when these little hints take place. You will be involved in doing other work when you get that urge.

Wait for it. Carry a journal around or a small notebook. When inspirational thoughts come your way write them down. Look for connections in your thoughts.

What is bringing you joy?

After a while it all starts to make more sense. You start attracting what you are meant to be going after. That is the beauty of your calling.

You can try to ignore it or put it off, but it almost always shows up again. I’m a huge believer in signs. When I go after my dreams you can bet that I had positive signs to get me to the next level.

It’s like getting that final validation that helps you keep on going. That feeling that feels just right even though it can be scary. Fear is good.

When you pursue your calling with intention that is when things change in your favor. You start listening to that urge. You put in the work.

Oh yes the work. That is all part of the process. When you get in tune is when you will start working the hardest.

There will be times when you will want to make every excuse in the book. However, that excuse is what will keep you from obtaining your goals. A roadblock placed in your path to make you stop.

Excuses also make you want to quit. Be on the lookout for the excuses that pop up.

You can either give in to them and justify why you stopped. Or you can avoid them and keep on going after that dream of yours. It is all about recognizing the things that move you forward and the things that keep you from doing that.

How important is it to you to pursue your dream?

Are you willing to go with that feeling of urgency? The feeling in your core that says get up and do this! That is what pulls you towards what you are meant to do.

Don’t worry about not knowing how. Everyone starts somewhere. You may be that newbie at first, but that’s only a temporary title.

After a while you will be seasoned with the right amount of knowledge for your craft. That is what will happen. It only comes to life if you make it a reality.
