Imagine getting to see a person of influence while pursuing your dreams in real life. Have you ever had that kind of experience? Attending the Next conference in Plano, Texas was the best investment that I’ve made this year.
Terri Savelle Foy was just as nice, funny and beautiful in person as she is on her television broadcast, YouTube channel and podcast.
I was introduced to her podcast when I first reignited my journey towards my dream in 2016. I immediately was drawn to her positivity and her motivational talks. Going after what you are meant to do is easier when you have a virtual mentor.
Conferences provide a chance to engage in personal development. You get to decide the kind of conference that best suits your needs.
How do you choose the conference that is right for you?
I will give you my example. As a writer I don’t always attend conferences aimed at writers. However, when I chose this conference I was drawn to a couple of things.
First, I wanted to hear Terri speak; she’s amazing by the way. Second, Esther Fedorkevich from: https://thefeddagency.com/ was also speaking at the conference. I was inspired by Terri and taught new things in the publishing industry when Esther spoke.
Those were two wins for me from the conference alone. The networking piece is another element that adds to the experience. You get a chance to meet new people, make new friends and support each other.
At this particular conference it included people from all walks of life. That made it more interesting to me. Every person there had a common goal in mind.
To be inspired to continue dreaming along with implementing the steps towards their dream. I met a dietician, an artist, a makeup consultant and a state employee. It didn’t matter where you were from you simply showed up ready to take notes.
What do you hope to get out of a conference?
Ask yourself what are the top 3 things you want to learn about. Start asking some of your friends or colleagues for some of their recommendations. If they have attended one get more information from them.

Not only was I watching her videos, but I started looking at her upcoming events. When you find a conference don’t be surprised if you encounter reasons why you shouldn’t go.
Those reasons come up especially if you are new to the dream that you are pursuing. It causes you to hesitate and ask yourself what makes you qualified to go.
Instead of giving in to the reasons of why you shouldn’t go do the opposite. Write down all of the pros on why it would be good for you.
There will be some general questions to ask yourself. Is it a good time for you to go? Will you be able to afford it?
If your answer is yes then take the steps to register. There is always a perk if you register early because it will cost less. Consider going with a friend that is willing to split the cost of a hotel room if it requires an overnight stay.
Also, look at the other things that you can do other than attend the conference. What is in the area that offers unique things to do? Ask the locals for awesome places to eat. Make the most out of your trip.
You are never done learning and a conference will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired even more. After you attend take actionable steps that will help you achieve success.
Remember you are worth it and so is your dream. It’s an investment in you and what you can bring to the table. This is your time.
